Weekend in Rovaniemi

So, I visited an awesome friend in north of Finland and DIDN'T see Santa :/ Now he doesn't know that I've been quite nice this year. The good thing is, I don't need to fill my luggage with too many presents when I move.

I didn't really know much about Rovaniemi before last weekend, it was just always too far for me. It took 9 hours by train, so my thought about the distance is pretty much correct. One thing I knew for sure is the Santa thing and I had heard from the Angry Birds park which of course I needed to see. And the Lordi square just happened to be there, didn't really want to see it but...

He looked so angry..

...so I gave him a hug (which looks like something else)

The Lordi square and the band members' handprints

Strange game, didn't really figure out how to play it..

Same library from the inside

Especially liked this part, the "hole" for books and reading

Creepy red cross

Looks like a sunset, but it's not. There's no sun in Rovaniemi in winter, I think it flies to South like the birds.
So, that was a small view of my weekend! We also played some Kimble, didn't take a picture as everyone SHOULD know this game. :)

Meanwhile in Finland

Hello from snowy Finland!

During my time in Finland I'm going to graduate (hopefully) and my next step is moving to Germany! I will tell a little bit here about the arrangements and what I need to do before I can actually leave.

At the moment, I need to get rid of a lot of stuff. In my move, I can only take 5 cubic meters, and that's not a lot. Luckily most of my furniture is not something that I'm completely in love with, so I'll be only taking my couch and an armchair. They were built to last forever and I'm probably a little bit in love with them. No offense to my bed, which I'm just going to abandon here and never look back. We've had nice past 10 years together and now it's time to move on.

The actual moving arrangements went fine, as we surprisingly have a moving company in the family, who are specialised in moving stuff to Europe, lucky me!

I still have some stuff to do with my school, but my thesis starts to look like it's going to be finished soon. I'm feeling happy and sad at the same time about finishing school; it's something that I've done since I was 7. Good thing is that I won't be dependent on the student money anymore. What I'm a little bit afraid of, is that I need to find a job in Germany. I'm not so great with German yet, I can manage but I get confused sometimes. I'm quite often confused, but I just freeze in some discussions, can't get a word right. Then I usually just flee and hope that no one noticed me. I guess that in some places it's ok to speak English too, but I definitely want to learn. I just feel sometimes a little bit pressure coming my way...

Oh well, I guess I'll do just fine. I just hope that the weather would get warmer for a moment, I'd love to get my bike to some other gear than 1st... It's not pleasant.

Przystanek Woodstock and Chinese Market

So, the festival is now again over, hopefully time will erase the bad memories of it. Well, not so bad, just rain, mud, a lot of people (500 000 I've heard), waiting and queueing, but that's festival life :)

Finally a flower from my housemate, for borrowing my room :)

Much has happened since the last text, last weekend I saw some shooting stars and at work I've enjoyed my time. Too bad I need to leave soon! It's also nice to come back to Finland, luckily I still have 1,5 months before going back. So, Tschüss, bis später! :)
